Title : Systems Engineer


Description : Systems Engineer supporting Portland Oregon Metro Area


Sales Systems Engineer supporting infrastructure related systems and software with a focus on Windows and VMware.

The Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting a sales team with architecture and configuration of infrastructure related systems and software, provide leadership in the installation, configuration, and implementation of architected solutions. The position requires the ability to execute small projects independently, supervise a project team, or lead a small project.

The Systems Engineer evaluates and mentors other engineers and sales team on methodology, best practices, technology, and general consulting skills. Strong problem solving and analytical abilities are required for the position. Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.

The primary duties for this position include but are not limited to:

  • Identifies additional solutions and sales opportunities for Groupware
  • Act as a technical expert for Groupware customer solutions
  • Serve as a project lead for services engagements
  • Act as the primary point of interface with the client or project manager for services engagements
  • Active participation in business development activities.
  • Assume responsibility/accountability for delivering entire components of a project.
  • Understand the project *big picture* and the impact of different areas on the whole project.
  • Strive to design, architect and suggest "Best Practice" technical solutions that solve business problems and enhance Groupware's long term customer relationships.
  • Build trusted relationships with key vendors and manufacturers
  • Flexibly meet varying levels of expertise depending on the job.
  • Proactively seek to expand knowledge and supplement skills through appropriate use of webinars, seminars, vendor presentations, books, manuals, and other self-study and point of need training.
  • Ability to fill various Vendors certification requirements - prometric exams for example.

Typical project roles would include:

  • *Supporting Sales team in sales calls
  • Lead project scoping/sales process; SOW development.
  • Consultant implementing services for customer

Qualifications:

The individual must have demonstrated good technical, problem solving, communication and documentation skills. The individual must be self-starting, flexible, dependable, and capable of multi-tasking and of quickly learning new products and technologies. The individual should have an advanced understanding of desktop and server operating systems software, including Microsoft Windows operating systems and proficiency in common office productivity software such as Microsoft Office. Knowledge in UNIX and Linux would also be desirable. The individual should also have advanced knowledge of technologies in several of the following:

  • NT domain/Active Directory
  • Windows Server installation and configuration
  • Routing
  • Networking
  • TCP/IP
  • SQL Server
  • Exchange
  • Sharepoint
  • Hyper-V
  • VMware
  • Zen
  • Storage Networking
  • Storage configuration supporting Windows environment
  • Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
